The Sig Adler Lung Cancer Research Fund was established by Sig’s partners at the law firm Adler, Cohen, Harvey, Wakeman and Guekguezian LLP and the Adler family in November 2007, shortly after Sig’s death due to lung cancer. Because he was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital, Sig’s family set up the fund in an effort to contribute to the groundbreaking research being conducted at MGH. The fund raised $50,000 in the first 6 months following Sig’s death.
In November 2008, the first fundraiser was held at Café 939 at the Berklee College of Music. The event, comprised of a silent auction, raffle, and live music, raised an additional $30,000 to fund lung cancer research.
Next year, the Adler family will be organizing a spring run/walk event. The family plans to continue organizing fundraising events that will support the critical research taking place at MGH.
