About the Fund

The Sig Adler Lung Cancer Research Fund was established by Sig’s partners at the law firm Adler, Cohen, Harvey, Wakeman and Guekguezian LLP and the Adler family in November 2007, shortly after Sig’s death due to lung cancer. Because he was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital, Sig’s family set up the fund in an effort to contribute to the groundbreaking research being conducted at MGH. The fund raised $50,000 in the first 6 months following Sig’s death.

In November 2008, the first fundraiser was held at Café 939 at the Berklee College of Music. The event was comprised of a silent auction, raffle, and live music.

In November 2009, a second fundraiser was held at the Sorenson Theater at Babson College.  In 2010 and 2011 we took a break from events by sending out a newsletter followed by a postcard. Sigfest 2012 marked our return to live events, which was followed by SigFest 2013 – 2016.   All told we have raised over $250,000 for lung cancer research at MGH Cancer Center.

We are looking forward to SigFest 2017 and to continuing fundraising events that will support the critical research taking place at MGH.
